Katherine Joleen Boldt, 53, of Grinnell, Iowa died October 31, 2008, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Pastor Rick Magstadt of Grace Community Church in Grinnell and Pastor Andy Smith of the Wesleyan Church in Sabetha, Kansas. Pianist will be Kent Kastindick. Pallbearers will be Andy Albers, Ralph Bohstedt, Todd Crites, Derrick Grubb, Darren Pinkerton, and Andy Ter Louw. Honorary bearers will be Joshua and Jeremy Boldt, Doug Smith, and John Thompson. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Smith Funeral Home and where the family will be present from 5:00 to 7:00 Monday evening. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Stork's Nest at Grinnell Regional Medical Center, the Shine Ministry or Splash Ministry, both at Grace Community Church. The daughter of Drexel Jerome and Ardis Jean Smith, Kathy was born November 4, 1954, in North Platte, Nebraska. She was raised in North Platte and was a 1973 graduate of North Platte High School. She attended Bartlesville Wesleyan College in Oklahoma. On January 11, 1974, Kathy was united in marriage to Michael Paul Boldt, in North Platte. The couple lived in Ft. Collins, Colorado, Rapid City, South Dakota, Wheat Ridge, Colorado, and later Holdrege, Nebraska. They moved to Grinnell in 2003. During this time she was employed in a nursing home in Ft. Collins, operated a Day Care Center in her home while in Rapid City, and was employed as a night auditor at American Family Motel in Wheat Ridge. While in Holdrege she was employed at Pamida. Kathy was a member of the Grace Community Church in Grinnell and had volunteered for many hours with the Stork's Nest at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, playing cards and Scrabble with her family, and putting puzzles together. She held a great love for her grandchildren and enjoyed sharing her time with them. Survivors include her husband Michael of Grinnell; three children, Joshua (Stephanie) Boldt of Festus, Missouri, Jeremy (Cassaundra) Boldt of Grinnell, and Janalee (Michael)Williams of Grinnell; her parents, Drexel and Jean Smith of North Platte; three brothers, Steve Smith Of Louisville, Colorado, Andy (Kathy) Smith of Sabetha, Kansas, and Doug (Mary Beth) Smith of Norman, Oklahoma; two sisters, Vicki (Steve) Thompson of Norwood, Missouri and Bette (Mike) Brandewie of Corpus Christi, Texas; and six grandchildren, Noah, Thomas and Andrew Boldt of Festus and Dante, Michael, and Jameka Williams of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harold and Leita Smith and Arthur and Bernice Staples; and her great-grandparents, Andy and Grace Messersmith.
