Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials can be designated to the Karma L. Lisk Memorial Fund, PO BOX 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Proceeds will benefit organizations of the family's choice. Karma was born on February 23, 1953 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Ludolph Zylstra and Joann Lanser. She was raised near Searsboro and she graduated from Pella Christian High School with the class of 1971. She then attended beauty school. She was united in marriage to Alan Clyde Lisk on February 23, 1974 in Searsboro. To this union five daughters were born, Mackinzie, Desiree, Edan, Kiley and Karley. Their marriage ended after sixteen years. Karma was a homemaker while her daughters were in school. She then worked at Ace Hardware in Grinnell for thirteen years and most recently at Mariposa Farms near Grinnell since 2006. Karma was a loving and devoted mother who dedicated her life to providing for her daughters. She was a member of the Grinnell Christian Church. She enjoyed reading, tending to her garden, camping at Backbone State Park and The Ledges, and the tranquility of watching the deer, birds and other animals at her rural home. She will be remembered for the unconditional love she provided, her honesty, and for her sense of humor. Karma is survived by her daughters, Mackinzie (Corey) Rekers of Bloomington, Indiana, Desiree Lisk of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Edan Lisk of Chicago, Illinois, Kiley Lisk of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Karley Lisk of Adel, Iowa; her mother, Joann Zylstra of Grinnell; four siblings, Fonda (Dave) Benson of Grinnell, Joani (Norvel) Hasley of Greensboro, Georgia, Dennis (Dot) Zylstra of Lynnville, Iowa, and Terry (Linda) Zylstra of Steger, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Ludolph Zylstra.
