Karen M. Weaver, age 74, of Grinnell, died on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at UnityPoint Grinnell Regional Medical Center.
A public celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, July 13, 2020 at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Private family interment will be held at Westfield Cemetery near Grinnell.
A public visitation with the family present will be held from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Sunday at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Those attending the visitation are encouraged to wear a mask and to practice social distancing.

Karen Marie Krumm was born the daughter of Paul and Doris (Losey) Krumm on June 13, 1946, in Grinnell, Iowa. She was raised near Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School with the class of 1964.
Karen was united in marriage to Clark Adelbert Weaver on March 28, 1965, at the Newburg Congregational Church in Newburg, Iowa. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Mark, Michelle and Melanie. They resided and farmed northwest of Grinnell. Karen worked at Tharp's Pharmacy, Cunningham Drug Store, Van Ersvelde Decorating, Swift's Greenhouse, and Hammond's Hallmark through the years. She held a passion for helping children and was a paraprofessional at Fairview School, helped with the after-school programs at Bailey Park School, and was involved in the Grinnell Community Daycare for several years. She was a member of the United Church of Christ – Congregational in Grinnell.
Karen's family was always first and foremost, and she dearly loved her grandchildren. She loved life on the farm and caring for the animals, especially latest additions Hawkeye the yellow lab and Katy Cat. She held a passion for gardening and through the years she earned the title of master gardener. Her enjoyments included reading, bird watching, fishing, going for walks, and traveling. Karen will be remembered for her kind, gentle demeanor, for being meticulous in everything she did, for her ability to recall and share stories, and for the strong love of her family.
Karen is survived by her husband of 55 years, Clark Weaver of Grinnell; her children, Mark T. Weaver of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Michelle Weaver of Dallas, Texas, and Melanie (Jamie) Smith of Scottsdale, Arizona; and 2 grandchildren, Jackson and Maggie Smith of Scottsdale. Karen was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Paul Losey.
