Karen Ruth McMillen, 78, of Grinnell, IA passed away February 24, 2024 at Newton Health Care Center.

Karen was born on September 10, 1945 in Ottumwa, IA to Perry and Hazel (Benson) McMillen. She grew up in Ottumwa and attended high school in Ottumwa.

On February 18, 1963 Karen was united in marriage to Larry "Gene" Miller at Ottumwa Baptist Church. To this union the couple had three children, Candace, Daniel and Tonya. The couple later divorced in 1980.

Karen worked for Maytag for over 17 years, after retiring in 1990. Following her retirement, she held various jobs in healthcare until 2000.

Karen enjoyed family genealogy, and she liked antiques.

Karen is survived by her children; Candace (Terry) See of Newton, IA, Daniel Miller of Grinnell, IA and Tonya (Harold) Meyer of Newton, IA; grandchildren, Destiny Taylor of Texas, Beau Carr of Grinnell, IA, Devin Miller of Newton, IA and Trevor Miller of Newton, IA; a sister, Janice (Kenneth) Hook of Lake McBride, IA, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her ex-husband Gene Miller, two brothers, Franklin McMillen, and Lloyd Dean Redman, and Robin McGee.
