Obituary

Julie Marie Eversdyk Hicks passed away on Thursday, January, 28, 2021 at her home in Arlington, Texas under the care of hospice. A private burial will take place at Westfield Cemetery in Grinnell, IA. Julie Marie Hicks was born July 6th 1962, in Abilene, Texas to Marion and Eunice Allen Eversdyk. She graduated from Abilene High School 1980, where she was active in volleyball, basketball and track. She went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Abilene Christian University before starting a 37 year career in the petroleum industry in various roles like Regional Field Supervisor and most recently in Customer Support. Julie was a very active member of the community and enjoyed being a part of so many activities. She worked part time for a security company that was contracted for many exciting events like concerts and the 2013 Super Bowl in New Orleans. In addition to her jobs, Julie was always interested in politics and was a member and past officer of the Reagan Legacy Republican Women's Club. She was an active member of Mansfield Church of Christ for over 20 years. Julie was always present and cheering at her children's and grandchildren's sporting events and school activities. She could be seen all over the state at ball fields, arenas, and cattle barns and never missed an opportunity to catch an event, even if it meant following along, play-by-play on an app or through text message updates. Julie is survived by her children, Morgan (James) Hammond and Colby Hicks; her beloved grandchildren, Brayden, Hudson and Dylan Hammond; her mother Eunice Allen Eversdyk; brothers David (Donna) Eversdyk and Randy (Lisa) Eversdyk. Preceding her in death was her father, Marion Eversdyk, brother Dennis Eversdyk, sister Cindy Eversdyk, and nephew John Hicks. Any financial contributions may be made to the Michael Gilles Purgason Foundation , 2007 Misty Creek Drive, Arlington, TX 76017.
