Joyce was born November 25, 1942, in Grinnell, the daughter of William Henry and Ruth Evelyn Paulson Taylor. She was raised on a farm near Montezuma and later moved to Brooklyn in 1956. She was a 1961 graduate of BGM High School and attended Iowa State University. Following her education she lived in the Des Moines area and later St. Charles, Iowa. She moved to Altoona in 1985. She was employed as a senior systems analyst for many years at GuideOne Insurance Company in West Des Moines. She was also a co-owner of Dragonball Trucking in Des Moines for several years. Joyce was a member of CPCU and FLMI, both insurance related organizations. Survivors include two children, Michelle L. (Tracy) Cross of Des Moines and William A. (Stacie) DeVore of Tiffin; one sister Jean Massengale of Sedalia, Missouri; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Donald and Kenneth Taylor.
