Jeffrey Dean Hawkins, 57, of Ladora died on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, IA.

A funeral service will be held, 10:30 AM, Friday, September 23, 2022 at St. James Lutheran Church in Victor with burial in Ohio Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Thursday, September 22 at the Smith Funeral Home in Victor

Memorial Contributions may be designated to the Jeffrey Hawkins Memorial Fund and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 485, Victor, IA 52347.

Jeffrey Dean Hawkins was born on November 13, 1964 in Marengo, IA, the son of Richard and Bernna Deane Mead Hawkins. Jeff was raised in Ladora and graduated from HLV Highschool with the class of 1983.

On September 17, 1983, Jeff married Michelle Wilcox and the couple was blessed with two children. Jeff supported his family working seven days a week as a truck driver for Ben Shinn Trucking. Through his example, he taught his children the value of hard work and dedication to family.

Jeff loved his family and friends. He enjoyed time spent outdoors around a fire, listening to classic rock, and tinkering in his garage fixing and repurposing anything he could find on the side of the road. He was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Those left to cherish Jeff's memory are his wife, Michelle Hawkins; children, Charles (Ellie) Hawkins and Angie (Kris) Wolf; his mother, Bernna Dean Hawkins; grandchildren, Raelene, Cash and Memphis Hawkins; siblings, Jill (John) McCallister, Kevin (Maria) Hawkins, and Bruce (Becky) Hawkins; father-in-law, Kenny Wilcox; mother-in-law, Dorene Wilcox; sister-in-law, Ann (Bill) Comer; brothers-in-law, Max (Kim) Wilcox, and Brad (Holly) Wilcox; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Richard Hawkins and a sister-in-law, Wanda Imhoff.
