Jeaneva Verdeck, 95, of Brooklyn and formerly of Hartwick, died on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at Brooklyn Community Estates.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, January 30, 2023 at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Victor. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Victor. A luncheon will follow at St. Bridget Catholic Church.

Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church beginning at 9:30 am.

Susie Jeaneva Lucas was born the daughter of Joe Frank Lucas and Leara Ruth (Miller) Lucas on December 3, 1927, in Eddyville, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Eddyville.

Jeaneva was united in marriage to Arnold A. Verdeck on April 21, 1957 in Victor, Iowa. She worked at Amana Refrigeration for 25 years and then worked at several area restaurants as a cook before retiring. She was a member of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Victor and was active on the Altar and Rosary Society. Her enjoyments were writing letters to friends and family, putting together Jigsaw puzzles, and traveling, especially to Branson, Missouri.

Jeaneva is survived by her sons, David Verdeck of Cedar Rapids, IA, John Verdeck and Mike Verdeck of Hartwick, IA; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Roberta Dostal of Clinton, IA; numerous nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Shirley Lucas of Washington, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arnold Verdeck in 2001; and her siblings, Barbara, Charles and Richard, who died in infancy.
