Janice D. Stewart, 77, of Grinnell, died on Friday, January 23, 2015, at Windsor Manor in Grinnell. A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Windsor Manor in Grinnell with Rev. Rose Blank, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Grinnell, officiating. Inurnment will be at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. Memorials may be directed to the Janice Stewart Memorial Fund and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Janice was born on March 25, 1937, in Grinnell, Iowa to Glenn and Elsa Holmdahl Breckenridge. She was raised in Kellogg and graduated from Kellogg High School before attending the Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. On November 30, 1957, she was married to Roger Stewart at the Christian Church in Kellogg. The couple lived in Grinnell, where she was a homemaker and mother of two sons. From 1972 to 2009, she served as a secretary at the United Methodist Church in Grinnell. Janice was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church and served in the music department as a pianist and member of the bell choir and vocal choir. She enjoyed music, playing bridge and supporting the Grinnell Tigers, the Johnston Dragons and the University of Northern Iowa Panthers. Survivors include her husband, Roger Stewart of Grinnell; two sons, Stan (Roxanna) Stewart of Grinnell and Robert (Diane) Stewart of Urbandale, IA; four grandchildren, Derek, Meghan, Natalie and Jackson; one brother, Darl (Ka) Breckenridge of Prescott, AZ; and one sister, Janet (Gael) Ebert of Knoxville, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents.
