Janice A. Reimers Kriegel, age 64, of Grinnell, died on Thursday, August 4, 2016, at Select Specialty Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. A celebration of her life will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at the Grinnell United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Monday at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell and her family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be designated to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Janice Ann Latcham was born the daughter of Lyle John and Dorothy (Versendaal) Latcham on September 8, 1951, at the Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was raised in Sully and Grinnell, where she graduated with the Grinnell High School class of 1969. Janice was united in marriage to Harry A. Reimers on October 23, 1970, at the Trinity Lutheran Church north of Malcom, Iowa. The couple lived in the Brooklyn and Grinnell area respectively and were blessed with two sons, Lance and Chad. Janice worked for the Grinnell State Bank before she began her longtime career of 30 years at GTE (General Telephone). She was a member of the Iowa Women's TTT Club and the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Grinnell, where she taught Sunday school. Janice's family was her life. She dearly loved her grandchildren and cherished her time with them. Janice loved to create experiences in life and one of her favorites was going to the Rose Bowl with Chad and her nephews. Much of her life was devoted to bettering the lives of others through her tangible and intangible acts of generosity. She will be remembered for her kind, gentle way, her ability to tell stories and jokes to make people laugh, her organization skills and hard work ethic, and for her loving smile. Janice is survived by her son, Chad (Erica) Reimers of Coralville, Iowa; four grandchildren, Cameron, Harrison, Maryn and Emmerson Reimers of Coralville; parents, John and Dorothy Latcham of Grinnell; siblings, Dianna (Darlo) Kelting of Grinnell, David (Annette) Latcham of Grinnell, Carol (Jeff) Oliver of Grinnell; sister-in-law, Teresa Latcham of Lynnville, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Reimers; son, Lance Reimers; and siblings, Judy Latcham and Allen Latcham.
