Janice was born on December 8, 1935, in rural Iowa County near Ladora, the daughter of James and Virginia Maude (Scully) Thompson. She was raised on the family farm near Ladora and graduated from Ladora High School with the Class of 1953.

She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Kenneth E. Davis, on March 10, 1956, at the Ladora United Methodist Church. Janice worked at Amana Refrigeration for a short time before dedicating her life to her family as a homemaker.

She was deeply rooted in her faith and held a strong love for her family. She loved to sing at her church with her cousin Judy Tanner and her dad who accompanied on the guitar. A natural caretaker, Janice devoted herself to the needs of others. She and Kenneth enjoyed camping and traveling together, especially their memorable trip to Europe, and taking their children ice skating on Lake Iowa. She also found great joy in gardening and canning.

Janice is survived by her children: Susan Davis of Laramie, WY; Kathy (Jon) Stochl of Williamsburg, IA; and Brian (Mary) Davis of Williamsburg, IA; grandchildren: Brad (Molly Cobb) Holderness of Colorado, Carla (Adam) Jordison of Polk City, IA, Curtis (Emily) Stochl of Cedar Rapids, IA, Robert (Melissa) Goodwin of Moline, IL, Brent Davis of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Bridget Meier (Colin Meier) of Williamsburg; and great-grandchildren: Raeann Goodwin, Lily Jordison, Sophie Jordison, Elsie Jordison, Matilda Cobb-Holderness, and Kaden Meier.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth, in 2021; her children in infancy, Lee and Lowell Davis; and her siblings, Evelyn Gorsh, Lucille Thompson, Marjorie Moser, and Melvin Thompson.
