Obituary

Janet C. Larson, 85, of Grinnell died on Thursday, October 20, 2005, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell. A graveside service and burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 24, 2005, at Oakwood Cemetery in Austin, Minnesota with Pastor David Beckstrom, interim pastor of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Francis Manor or Caring Adults in Grinnell. Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell is handling arrangements. The daughter of Albert and Myrtle MacDonald Anderson, she was born November 29, 1919, in Austin, Minnesota. She was raised in Austin and received her education in the Austin public schools. She was married to Alva W. Larson on October 12, 1943, in Austin. The couple made their home in Austin and she kept busy as a homemaker and raising her family. She moved to Grinnell in 1982, to be close to her son, Bob and his family. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin and while in Grinnell, she was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She was also a volunteer with Caring Adults in Grinnell. She enjoyed her family, reading, painting and celebrating Scottish Heritage. Survivors include one son, Bob (Pat) Larson of Grinnell,; two daughters, JoAnn Dean and Barbara Bailey of College Station, Texas; three grandchildren, Kama (Tom) Small and Angela Larson of Grinnell, and Philip Dean of Denham Springs, Louisiana; and two great-grandchildren, Emily and Amanda Small of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Albert, John and Louis Anderson.
