Jack Greer, 86, of Grinnell, died on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at UnityPoint Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. The service will be lived streamed on the Smith Funeral Home Facebook page beginning at 10:45 am. Visitation will be held one hour prior to his service at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

James Knute Greer, Jr. was born on September 14, 1934, in Portland, Oregon to James Knute Greer, Sr. and Louise (Schanon) Greer. He was raised and educated in Portland.
Jack honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1951 until 1954 during the Korean Conflict. In 1969, he moved to Iowa lake near Ladora, Iowa and began working for Amana Refrigeration. He was united in marriage to Irene Collum on May 24, 1986 in Grinnell, where the couple resided all of their married lives. Jack was a longtime employee of Donaldson's in Grinnell. He was a member of the Malcom American Legion, the Eagles in Grinnell, and the Elks Lodge in Grinnell. His enjoyments were working on cars, watching NASCAR and western movies on TV, going out to eat, and spending time with his family.
Jack is survived by his children, Louise Isaac of Barnes City, IA, Kevin Greer of Victor, IA, Theresa (Dan) Bazyn of Victor, and Melissa Greer of Grundy Center, IA; his stepchildren, Larry Collum of Marshalltown, and Shawn (Kathy) Collum, David (Angie) Collum, Diane (Marty Johnson) Collum, and Lynn Collum Earnhart, all of Grinnell; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irene Greer in 2019; a stepson, Tim Collum; daughters-in-law, Gaile Collum and Kris Collum; a grandson, Michael Meier; and a granddaughter, Amy Jean Wax.
