Jack Baltisberger, 64, of Malcom died on December 23, 2007. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 27, at the Grinnell Christian Church with the Rev. Carol Myers, pastor of the Malcom-Sheridan Church, officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Malcom. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Malcom Cemetery Association. The son of Ronald and Gladys Hutchison Baltisberger, he was born October 4, 1943, on the family farm southwest of Malcom. He attended country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Montezuma High School in 1961. On June 12, 1965, he was united in marriage to Janis Suess and the couple lived on a farm near Malcom. They were later divorced. Then on September 21, 1985, he was married to Kathleen Boisen. They continued living near Malcom and moved to their present home in 1994. Jack worked construction all of his life, and still had a love for farming and the land. He was president of the Malcom Cemetery Board and also a board member and secretary of the IHC Collectors, Iowa Chapter #5. He loved antique tractors and cars, barns, and spending time with his family and friends. He especially loved playing with his grandchildren. Jack had a "good heart" and was a good Samaritan. He made himself available to anybody that needed his help and he really loved his community. He knew the value of hard work and enjoyed working with his hands. He also enjoyed writing poetry, photography, and reading books on the history of Iowa. Survivors include his best friend and loving wife, Kathleen of Malcom; his mother, Gladys Baltisberger of Grinnell; four children, Ben (Paula) Baltisberger of Newton, Rod Baltisberger of Malcom, Rebecca (Blake) Anderson of Keystone, and Brian Baltisberger of Newburg; three step-children, Robin (Joe) Rios of Des Moines, Jared Boisen of Montezuma, and Scott Boisen of Ames; five grandchildren, Shamus, Resa, and Clayton Baltisberger of Newton, and Aleah and Kane Delk of Grinnell; one brother, Jerry (Diane) Baltisberger of Grinnell; and two sisters, Phylis (Jim) Pulliam of Cedar Rapids, and Janet (Jim) VanErsvelde of Montezuma. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald.
