Hilda Fredaricke Bott Pawlek, 95, of Victor, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2006, at Brookhaven Nursing Home in Brooklyn where she had lived for nearly 3 years. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 30, at St. James Lutheran Church in Victor with the Rev. Alan Hafner officiating. Organist will be Pam Cronbaugh. Pallbearers will be Justin, Mike, Phil and Zac Bott, and Shawn and Shiloh Foster. Burial will be in Victor Memorial Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Hilda F. Pawlak Memorial Fund. Hilda was born January 2, 1911, to Fred and Anna Wiedemeier Bott, at the family farm south of Ladora near what is now Iowa Lake. She attended rural school near her home. On January 15, 1942, she married Charles W. Pawlek at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. She moved with him as he completed training and assignments in the United States Army and spent World War II living in Portland, Oregon with her good friend and fellow Army wife Mavis Wulf. At the conclusion of World War II and after Charles' discharge, they returned to Victor. A son, Roger, was born to the couple in 1949. Hilda was active in the community, helping to establish the Victor Public Library during the mayoral administration of Dr. Louis Bellegante. She served on the Library Board for many years and eventually saw a new library building constructed. She was also active in the Victor Women's Club, American Legion Auxiliary, St. James Lutheran Church and St. James Lutheran Church Ladies Aid. She enjoyed community service as well as tending her flowers, reading and playing the piano and organ. Survivors include her son, Roger and his wife, Patricia of Victor, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Fred Bott, Jr., and Charles, her husband of 64 years.
