Obituary

Helen was born on March 25, 1926, in Fredericksburg, Iowa to Sam and Karen Grimsby Hartman. At the age of 5 she was taken to the home of Mamie Auger Hawk, who raised her. She grew up in Van Cleve and Laurel and attended public school. On June 27, 1942, she was united in marriage to Floyd Paul in Unionville, Missouri. The couple farmed their entire life in the Gilman area. She also worked at the Wolfe Eye Clinic in Marshalltown and at Ludden's Medicap Pharmacy in Grinnell. Helen was a member of the Laurel United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed raising flowers, music, fishing in Canada and Minnesota and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her children, Gary (Virginia) Paul of Gilman and Cynthia (Jerry) Robinett of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; her sister-in-law, Hope (William) Bryant of Coralville, Iowa; and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; one granddaughter, Bambi Rosedale; one grandson-in-law, David Johnson; and her special friend, Albert Neighbors. Memorials may be directed to the Laurel United Methodist Church or to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
