Helen Kriegel, 79, of Grinnell died March 29, 2015, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center. No services are planned. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Helen Kriegel Memorial Fund. Helen was born October 12, 1935, in Newton, Iowa the daughter of Frank and Mildred Conn Carnahan. She was raised in the Grinnell and Gilman areas and was a 1954 graduate of Gilman High School. On July 20, 1968, she was united in marriage with Deane Kriegel, in Gilman. The couple lived in Gilman for a year and then moved to a farm in Sheridan Township where they farmed until 1988. They moved to Grinnell and she was employed at various businesses in the Grinnell area. Helen enjoyed crocheting, painting artwork and reading. She loved animals and enjoyed her pets throughout her life. Survivors include her husband, Deane of Grinnell; one daughter, Jennifer (Troy) Cummings of Cedar Rapids; and two brothers, Jim Carnahan and Frank "Bud" Carnahan, both of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Norma Carnahan.
