Helen B. Decatur, 80, of Grinnell, died on Monday, February 18, 2013, at the Grinnell Health Care Center.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Rev. Kalen Barkholtz, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Pianist will be Teresa Ziegenmeyer. Casket Bearers will be Ronald DeBondt, Dale Kasal, Mark Kasal, James King, Kenny King, Steve King, Terry Osland and Wesley Wallis. Interment will be at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home beginning 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Memorials may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Helen was born on May 4, 1932, in Grinnell, Iowa to William and Mabel Broders Decatur. She was raised in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School with the Class of 1951. She lived in Grinnell and worked in child care with the Grinnell Day Care Center for over 30 years.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed shopping, attending church, caring for children and socializing with friends over a cup of coffee.
She is survived by her cousins, Blanche Manfull of Montour, Lois Kasal of Brooklyn, Carol Wallace Giovanzzi of Muscatine and Wes Wallis of Malcom.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
