Hazel was born the daughter of Russell and Floreene Swearingen Innis on February 11, 1947, in Marshalltown, Iowa. She was raised near Marshalltown and attended schools in Gilman, Green Mountain and Marshalltown, where she graduated with the Marshalltown High School Class of 1965. Hazel was united in marriage to Leo Eugene Draegert on January 7, 1967, at his brother Donald's home in Marshalltown. To this union were born their children Alan and Julie. Hazel is survived by her husband of 40 years, Leo Draegert of Baxter; her children, Alan Draegert of Baxter and Julie Kriegel of Grinnell; her grandson Jarren Draegert of Grinnell; her brothers, William (Sally) Innis of Grinnell, Othor Russell Innis of Marshalltown, IA, Robert Innis of Barnes City, IA, and Kenneth (Vickey) Innis of Havelock, NC; and her sisters, Dorretta Costello of Teaneck, NJ, Mary Draegert of Grinnell, and Ruth (Steve) Kirby of Grinnell. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Floreene Swearingen Innis; and her son-in-law, Todd Kriegel.
