Later, he was trained as a pilot and worked at the Grinnell Airport and Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company. In 1960, the family moved to Marshalltown and he became employed as a pilot for Niederhauser Aviation and flew for Fisher Governor. He later returned to Grinnell Mutual as a pilot. The couple moved to the Mayflower Community in 2010. Harold enjoyed woodworking, reading, yard work, playing his guitar and singing country western music. He loved to fly and logged over 29,000 hours of flight time. His passion in life was his love of his family.
