Harold was born on the family farm near Grinnell, Iowa on May 22, 1916 to George and Dora Read Edgington. He was raised on the family farm and attended Washington Township #1 School. On August 22, 1941, he was married to Doris Jack in Jefferson City, Missouri. The couple lived on the family farm, which was honored as a Century Farm in 2001. He had also served three terms as a Washington Township Trustee. Harold enjoyed woodworking, square dancing, traveling and spending winters in Arizona. Survivors include his wife, Doris Edgington of Grinnell; two sons, Roger (Emma) Edgington of Manchester and Ron (Karen) Edgington of Grinnell; one daughter, Linda (Eugene) Long of Pecos, NM; five grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Loren Edgington; and two sisters, Arlene Horn and Mildred Edgington.
