Harry William Whitehead was born on April 9, 1947, the son of John and Dorothy Gott Whitehead in Oskalooska, Iowa. The family moved to Montezuma and he attended school there. Bill lived in several places including New Sharon, Marshalltown, Des Moines and finally called Grinnell his home.
Bill had a great love for everything he had. He enjoyed the outdoors and all animals. Christmas had a special place in his heart, decorating the tree, candy, stockings and being around his family. He always enjoyed the sweets and playing Sorry and Uno with his nieces and nephews. Being the oldest of seven, patience was a virtue he taught to all of his siblings. His child-like faith gave hope to everyone around him. Bill was a friend to all and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his siblings, Emma and Roger Edgington of Manchester, Iowa, John Whitehead, Jr. of Marshalltown, George and Alice Whitehead of Montezuma, Linda Dontje of Denver, Colorado, Vema and Larry Ozborn of Marshalltown and Jenny and Greg Fowler of Grinnell; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be directed to the William Whitehead Memorial Fund and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home.
