Gladys M. Larsen, 92, of Grinnell, died on Sunday, May 19, 2013, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell. A family service will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell with Rev. Evelyn Larsen officiating. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to St. Francis Manor in Grinnell and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Gladys was born on February 12, 1921, on the family farm near Grinnell to Knudt and Olga Figland Larsen. She was injured during birth, making it necessary that she live with her parents until their death. She was very helpful doing household and farm chores. Following the death of her parents she resided at area health care centers. She is survived by one sister, Louise Doty of Grinnell; three brothers, Raymond Larsen and Delmar Larsen, both of Grinnell and Roger Larsen of Engelwood, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Clara Ryan; and one brother, Kenneth Larsen, who died during World War II.
