Gladys was born on December 30, 1928, in Grinnell, Iowa to William and Velma Stanley Burnham. She was raised on the family farm near Lynnville and attended rural school. She graduated from Grinnell High School in 1948.
On May 26, 1951, she was married to Lawrence Iverson at the Friends Church in Grinnell. The couple lived on various farms in Poweshiek and Tama Counties before settling on their current farm, southeast of Grinnell, in 1982. She was a mother, homemaker and assisted with the farming operation.
Gladys enjoyed needle work, camping and boating. She also enjoyed baking delicious brownies and making Norwegian pancakes.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Iverson of Grinnell; one daughter, Linda (Ron) Davis of Grinnell; two sons, Ronald (Marcia) Iverson of Grinnell and Leslie (Teresa) Iverson of Grinnell; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister, Doris (Edgar) Willer of Knoxville; and one brother, Robert (Velma) Burnham of Grinnell.
Gladys died on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at the Mayflower Health Center. She was 80 years of age and she was preceded in death by her parents; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Burnham.
The Iverson family will receive relatives and friends for lunch at the Poweshiek County Fairgrounds Community Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
