Ginny was born on March 19, 1970, in Grinnell, Iowa, to Glen Joseph Kriegel and Linda Gae (Guddendorf) Kriegel. She was raised in Brooklyn, Iowa, and graduated from BGM High School with the class of 1988. She went on to earn her Bachelor's degree from Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, a place that would later become central to her life and family.

On November 10, 2001, Ginny was united in marriage to Martin Burkle at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Together they built a loving home and were blessed with two sons, Zach and Caden, who were the center of her world. The family made their home in Cedar Rapids, Indianola, and eventually North Liberty, where Ginny served as an educator in each of the public school systems where they lived.

Ginny was a woman of deep strength and quiet faith, described by those who loved her as sharp, caring, inspiring, and determined. She was a planner at heart, always thinking ahead with purpose and love. She had a passion for gardening, found peace in walking her dogs, and took every opportunity to travel—especially to beaches, with a favorite trip being to Hawaii. A devoted animal lover and talented cook, Ginny poured her love into everything she did. Her faith grew from a tiny mustard seed as a youth, cultivated by her family, to the vast and unshakeable belief she carried as an adult.

Ginny is survived by her husband, Marty Burkle of North Liberty; their two sons, Zach and Caden Burkle of North Liberty; her siblings, Laura (Bruce) Blankenfeld of Grinnell, Karen (Kenny) Thompson of Grinnell, Cheryl (Rick) Burnham of Grinnell, Mark (Debra) Kriegel of Brooklyn, Curtis (Angie) Kriegel of Hartwick, and Mindy (Tony) Hall of Grinnell; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Steven and Kevin Kriegel; sister-in-law, Lisa Kriegel; and niece, Jessica Kriegel.
