Gerald (Jerry) Donald Milbrett, age 46, of Chelsea, Iowa passed away at Grinnell Regional Medical Center in Grinnell, Iowa on August 17th, 2012, in the arms of his loving wife, Traci. Jerry was an avid hunter and fisherman. He always came home with cold water walleye. He loved to travel and explore new places and never worried about getting lost because when he was; it only presented another new adventure. Jerry was a unique and creative thinker who was larger than life and an excellent problem solver. He always thought outside the box. Jerry was an excellent pool player and dancer. His dance card was always full being it in polka, waltz or two step. He was a protective and loving husband and step-father. When Jerry was diagnosed with glioblastoma stage four cancer in January 2006, he embarked on his epic journey to fulfill his bucket list. He pointed his Harley west to the Pacific Ocean, pitching his tent along the way where he listened to owls, coyotes and the world at large underneath the open skies. On that list were also trips to Montana elk hunting and fly fishing, a trip to Savannah, GA with his wife and a trip to Puerto Rico with his wife and their best friends. Jerry always said that life is too short; make time for the things and the people you love. Jerry attended Waseca, MN high school, graduating in 1984. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service, was an independent contractor for Birdseye in Waseca and most recently was the Iowa Division Northland Trenching Equipment, Inc. manager. Jerry was a volunteer firefighter with the Chelsea, IA fire department. Jerry is survived by his wife and best friend of 15 years, Traci Neid-Milbrett, also from the Waseca area. He is also survived by his children, Amanda, Molly, Chastity, Stephanie, Matthew, Nicole, Michael and Mitchell. He is also survived by parents in-law Larry & Cheryl Neid, Barb Thoms, Bruce Williams, brothers & sisters in-law Corey Neid (Mindy), Amy Atherton (Victor), Abbie Anderson (Joel), Amy Williams, Jared (Natalie) Ruedy and siblings Steve (Angie), Mark (Pat), Shaun (Jay), Kevin (Cindy) and Michelle as well as his parents, Harold and Shirley Milbrett; and several grandchildren. Also surviving Jerry are dear friends Craig & Tammy Wise and Jerome Behounek of Chelsea, Iowa as well as nephews and nieces. A big thank you to family, friends and neighbors who helped during the difficult last weeks, making it as easy as possible. Until we meet again, Pablo, thank you for sharing your beautiful soul with us all. You touched our lives in more ways than you could have ever known. You are the bravest man we have ever known. We will hold you in our hearts forever. A celebration of life memorial service has been scheduled from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, September 8, at St. Joseph's Catholic School in Chelsea, Iowa.
