Georgia Y. Smith, age 89 of Grinnell, died on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 21st at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Pastor John Epperson officiating. Interment will be at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.
Visitation will be held prior to her service from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Georgia Y. Young was born on February 25, 1929 in Stoutland, Missouri to Joseph and Bertha (Oliver) Young. She was raised near Stoutland and graduated from Stoutland High School in 1947.
Georgia was united in marriage to Cleo Smith on April 21, 1949 in Stoutland. The couple was blessed with two daughters, Barbara and Wanda. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Grinnell. Georgia worked at McNally's grocery store in Grinnell for over 37 years. Her enjoyments were taking care of her grandchildren, traveling to Missouri to see her family, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, feeding the birds and squirrels, reading, and visiting with people. She was a member of the Grinnell Christian Church.
Georgia is survived by her daughters, Barbara Smith and Wanda (Bruce) Hidlebaugh, both of Grinnell; three grandchildren, Amy, Joseph and Stacy Hidlebaugh, all of Grinnell; three great grandchildren, Jaden Chappell, Mackenzie Chappell, Jamison Hidlebaugh; three brothers, Junior (Mary) Young, Keith (Janice) Young, and Jerry Young all of Missouri; and sisters, Neva South of Arizona, Virginia Courison of Missouri, and Sharon Boyer of Pennsylvania.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cleo in 1996; brothers, Ray and Willard Young; and sisters, Wilma Clark and Elma Cleo Young.
