Obituary

George was born February 5, 1922, to John and Lulu Scandrett Morrison at Grinnell Community Hospital in Grinnell, Iowa. He attended Malcom No. 9 school until the eighth grade. He graduated from Malcom High School with the Class of 1940. In 1946, he was discharged from the Army. On August 19, 1951, George was married to Glenna Jean Molloy at the United Brethren Church west of Newburg, Iowa. They began their married life on the Morrison family farm in Malcom Township. The family moved to Sheridan Township Section 15 on February 14, 1969. George loved to farm and during his farming career he received the Soil Conservation Award of Poweshiek County twice. He served on the Farm Bureau Board for several years and was an active member of the First Friends Church in Grinnell. George is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean Morrison of Malcom; his children, Marlene Pedigo of Mooresville, Indiana; Diane DeSousa of St. Petersburg, Florida; Rosemary Ethington of Rockaway, New Jersey; Duane Morrison of Malcom, Iowa; Keith Morrison of Grinnell; Janet Musial of Coppell, Texas; and Eric Morrison of Eugene, Oregon; 13 grandchildren, Joel, Nathan and Anna Pedigo; John and Natalie DeSousa; Michelle and Scott Ethington; Jennifer and Josh Burnham; William Morrison; Jessica Lovera, Bailey and Grace Morrison. George was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Betty Ward. Memorials may be directed to the First Friends Church in Grinnell.
