Genevieve "Ann" Reed, age 86, of Brooklyn, Iowa, and formerly of Malcom, died Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family and under the care of UnityPoint Hospice.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Smith Funeral Home - Grinnell. A private graveside service will be held at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Malcom.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be designated to the Grinnell Eagles. Memorials may be mailed in care of Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, IA 50112.
Ann was born February 27, 1940, at home in Malcom to Kenneth and Grace (Hegwood) McKeag. She was raised in Malcom and graduated as salutatorian of Malcom High School.
On June 6, 1958, Ann was united in marriage to Thomas Reed in Montezuma, Iowa. While Thomas served in the U.S. Navy, Ann raised their two children, Jackie and Tim. Following his discharge, the couple returned to Malcom. Ann began her career as a telephone operator with GTE and later retired as a Chief Fraud Investigator.
Ann was a dedicated member of the Grinnell Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Rebecca Lodge. She devoted countless hours to fundraising for the charitable causes supported by these organizations. Her leadership extended to serving on national and international Eagles committees, and she proudly served as Madam President of the Grinnell Eagles.
Ann had a true love for the outdoors and a green thumb, especially when it came to tending her vegetable gardens. She enjoyed line dancing and traveling, and she had a gift for making friends wherever she went.
She is survived by her children, Jackie Lamb of Brooklyn, Iowa, and Tim Reed of Corona, California; her grandchildren, Stephnie (Ron) Puls, Jeremy Lamb, Jessica Foster, Lance (Simone) Espejo, Thomas Reed, and Nicolas Reed; her great-grandchildren, Caden (Cassie) Puls and their children, Coralynn and Clara, Cooper Puls, Sophia Puls, Mickella Lamb, Jax Foster, and Brynely Foster; her sisters, Pam (Bud) Maschmann and Regina (Jim) Urfer; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas; her sister, Vickie Innis; and her son-in-law, Lennie Lamb.
