Gary was born on September 28, 1942, in Grinnell, Iowa, to Arthur and Margaret Grier Timm. He was raised on the family farm near Guernsey and attended St. John School. Gary was a member of the Class of 1960 from Victor High School.
On April 19, 1964, he was married to Johnette Hahn in Marengo. The couple lived on the Timm family farm near Guernsey and he operated a grain and dairy farm. Later, he was a partner in the Dave Gryp Construction Company and co-operated the Stop-n-Sip in Victor.
Gary was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He enjoyed rolle bolle, dummy boards, playing cards, fishing, gardening and mowing his yard. He was a workaholic but he cherished time with his family and friends and spending the winter months in Brownsville, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Johnette Timm of rural Guernsey; three sons, Gary Lee (Kris) Timm of Guernsey, Dave (Kristy) Timm of Victor and Chad (Kristen) Timm of Victor; ten grandchildren; one brother, Dan Timm of Victor; and three sisters, Colene Kent of Tama, Dixie Wentland of Hartwick and Margaret Ann York of Tama.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Shelly Timm; and one sister, Marlene Mathes.
