Frank Kester, 89, of Grinnell, died on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Brooklyn Community Estate in Brooklyn with his wife and daughters by his side.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Grinnell. A luncheon will follow in the Parish Center of the church. Interment will be at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.

A scripture service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, January 19th at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. The family will receive friends at the visitation held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home.

Frank Delano Kester was born the son of Maurice Gaylord Kester and Mildred Maxine (Grovenburg) Kester on January 30, 1934 in Grinnell, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Newton, Iowa and Grinnell, respectively. Frank was a longtime employee at Maytag in Newton.

Frank was united in marriage to Patricia Jane Collum on April 19, 1954 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Grinnell. The marriage was blessed with four children: Ronald, Victoria, Brenda, and Michelle, who they raised in Grinnell.

Frank is survived by his wife of 69 years, Patty Kester of Grinnell; daughters Brenda (Mike) Arment of Grinnell and Shelly Pollock of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren Curt (Colette) Cox, Shawn (Sam) Cox, Jennifer (Mike) Tidman, Trent (Jennifer) Arment, Travis (Holly) Arment, Trisha Arment, Kelsey (Seth) Bryan, Alea Slater, and Bryton Pollock; great-grandchildren Zach, Curtis, Connor, Avery, Madeline, Tori, Alec, Cain, Parker, Hunter, Abbie, Matt, Kate, Sam, Jaedyn, Leighton, Skylar, Harper, Reese, Maddox, Quinn, Noah, and Brock; great-great-grandchildren Weslynn, Silas, and Sophia, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Maurice and Mildred, son in infancy Ronnie Kester, daughter Vicky Cox, son-in-law Laurel Pollock, sister and brother-in-law Betty and Marvin Taylor, brother and sister-in-law David and Irene Kester, father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Sophia Collum, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ambrose and Betty Collum, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bruce Collum and Irene Greer, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jack and Betty Collum, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Larry and Betty Collum.
