Mike Duncan, 39, of Grinnell, died on Saturday, April 16, 2016, of injuries he received in a train/pedestrian accident in Grinnell. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Rev. John Epperson officiating. A gathering with the family will be held at the Eagles Lodge in Grinnell following the memorial service. Memorials may be directed to the Michael Duncan Memorial Fund and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home, P.O. Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. He was born on March 12, 1977, in Riverside, California, to David and Doris Mitchell Duncan. He was raised in Riverside and attended middle school there. The family moved to Grinnell, Iowa and he attended public schools in Sully and Grinnell. He later attended Ellsworth Community College. Mike made his home in Grinnell and worked for various local industries. Recently, he was employed at the JELD-WEN Corporation with the door division. Mike enjoyed fishing, video games, lifting weights and spending time with his three daughters. He was devoted to family and friends and possessed a strong work ethic. Survivors include his three daughters, Trinity and Isabelle Duncan, both of San Antonio, Texas and Lillianna Mai Starr Duncan of Grinnell; and his siblings, Michael J. Fletcher of Grinnell, Stephanie Johnson of Grinnell, Rob Byford of Tampa, Florida, Sherry Reichenbach of Lexington Park, Maryland, Greg Duncan of Atlantic Beach, Florida, John Duncan of Orange Park, Florida, Billy Duncan of Grinnell and Lucas White of Riverside, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
