Flora Loetta See, age 67, of Grinnell, died Monday, November 6, 2006, at her home. A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 25, 2006, at the Smith Funeral Home with Rev. David Schearer of the Boone Street Church of Christ in Marshalltown and her son Alan See as officiants. Her daughter Elizabeth Stevens will recite her 50th wedding anniversary poem. Vocalists will be her nieces Tyne Riek and Tiffini Steele. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday with the family present to greet friends at this time. The daughter of Ernest Eugene and Cassie Belle May Lawrence, she was born in Kirksville, Missouri on March 23, 1939. She attended school in Miland, Missouri and married Harold 'Hank' Joseph See on August 25, 1956. They initially made their home in Grinnell, Iowa and later in Pekin, Illinois, Maquoketa, Iowa, Boulder Colorado, and Abilene, Texas after returning to Grinnell in August of 2005. Loetta was a gifted painter and a master gardener. She was a business partner in many ventures with her husband. The couple vacationed in Canada, Germany, Mexico and visited the 47 of the 50 states numerous times. Loetta is survived by her husband of fifty years, Harold 'Hank' Joseph See of Grinnell, her son Alan (Phyllis) See of Miamisburg, Ohio; her daughter, Elizabeth Stevens and her fianc' David Chapman of Abilene, Texas; three grandchildren, Austin, Taylor and Victoria, all of Miamisburg, Ohio; five sisters, Pansy Wellington and Annabelle Novinger, both of Novinger, Missouri, Shirley Steele and Phyllis Sitton, both of Grinnell, and Charlotte Van Egdom of Montour, Iowa; one brother, Jerry Lawrence of Kansas City, Missouri. Loetta was preceded in death by parents; her brothers Ernest and Rodney Lawrence; and her sister Janet See. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Grinnell Regional Hospice.
