Eva was born the daughter of Oliver and Lillie Walkup Bell on February 13, 1921, southwest of Grinnell in the Westfield neighborhood. She attended Westfield school and church. The family moved to Newburg and then to Grinnell, where she graduated with the class of 1939. On December 16, 1939, she married Max Jones. In 1962, they moved to an acreage southwest of Grinnell. After Max's death in 1985, Eva moved to Grinnell.
Eva enjoyed gardening, growing plants and flowers, embroidering and cross stitching. She took great pride in raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchild.
She is survived by her eight children, Carol (Robert) Wilson of Grinnell, Dorothy Jones of Newton, Richard (Denise) Jones of Williamsburg, Kathy (Shawn) Collum of Grinnell, Connie (Richard) Blankenfeld of Ames, Max Jones of Marshalltown, Kris (Tim) Collum of Grinnell and Paula Jones of Grinnell; one sister, Arlene Rutheford of Newton; fifteen grandchildren; three step grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers, LuVerne, Clarence, George and Dale Bell; sisters, Wilma Garwood, Minnie Green, Elva Adams(her twin), Evelyn Simpson and Bernice Pearce; one grandson, Mike Meier and one great great granddaughter, Lillie Kristine.
