Obituary

Eula Marie Fields, 81, of Anoka, Minnesota and formerly of Grinnell, died on January 10, 2021, at Homestead Long-Term Care in Anoka. A graveside service and burial at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell is pending for a date yet to be determined. Memorial contributions may be designated to the American Cancer Society and sent in c/o Eula's daughter: Lisa Elliott, 1030 109th Avenue N.W., Coon Rapids, Minnesota, 55448. Eula was born on September 20, 1939, in Montezuma, the daughter of Edgar Charles and Naomi Marie Gilbreaith Sanders. She was raised in Montezuma and was a 1957 graduate of Montezuma High School. On June 1, 1958, she was united in marriage to Edwin Earl Fields, in Malcom. The couple lived in Grinnell where Eula was employed at Grinnell Re-Insurance Company. In 1967, they moved to Marshalltown and for many years she was employed in the general office at Fisher Controls. After retiring in 1998, she and her husband moved to the Lake of the Ozarks. She later moved to Seeland Park in Grinnell in 2016 prior to moving to Anoka in 2020. Eula loved her retirement at the Lake of the Ozarks; her joys included boating, fishing, and she loved to have company. Her family were her greatest joy though, they were the center of her life. She cherished her family get-togethers, visiting her kids and grandchildren, attending baptisms, confirmations, graduations, birthdays, and other events. She enjoyed listening to "classic" country music. Survivors include her children, Larry Fields of Grinnell and Lisa (David) Elliott of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Angela (Jenee) Hutchinson of Frisco, Texas, Sara Fields of Tipton, Hailey Simpson of Minneapolis, and Cody and Melanie Simpson of Coon Rapids; three great-grandchildren, Jalen, Amiyah, and Josiah Hutchinson of Frisco; and three sisters, Darlene Aalbers of Olympia, Washington, and Phyllis (LeRoy) Meredith and Mary (Judson) Jones of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edwin in 2016; and four sisters, Betty Sanders, Esther Riggs, Violet House, and Lois Massengale.
