Obituary

Erma L. Curry, 82, of Grinnell, died on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Grinnell Health Care Center. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 9, 2016, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Rev. John Epperson officiating. Casket Bearers will be Joe Failor, Tina Failor, Brett Huth, Ronald Huth, Randy Ives and Justin Montgomery. Interment will be at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home beginning 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The family will be present at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Should friends desire, memorials may be directed to Grinnell Regional Hospice. Erma was born on August 23, 1933, near New Sharon, Iowa to Mose and Gladys Freshour Moore. The family moved to Montezuma and she graduated from Montezuma High School with the Class of 1951. On July 29, 1951, she was united in marriage to Ronald Gordon Curry at the United Methodist Church in Montezuma. Ronald served in Germany with the United States Army and she worked for the General Telephone Company in Grinnell. The couple made their home in Grinnell, where she was a homemaker and mother of three daughters. She worked at the Maid-Rite, the Iowa State Liquor Store and the Grinnell College dining service. The family owned and operated Curry Trucking Company and she worked as a book keeper. Erma enjoyed fishing, marketing AVON products, collecting Beanie Babies, ceramics and shopping at Younkers. She was very dedicated to her family and cared for her daughter, Lori, after her accident. Survivor's include her husband, Ronald Curry of Grinnell; two daughters, Rhonda (Jim) Failor of Montezuma and Kim (John) Huth of Searsboro; five grandchildren, Tina (Joe) Failor, Melissa (Eddie) Vann, Ronald Huth, Brett (Ashley) Huth and Justin (Crystal) Montgomery; five great grandchildren, Carter Failor, Cameron Failor, Ander Vann, Charlie Huth and Lannon Montgomery; and her brother, John Moore of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Lori Montgomery; one great grandson, Carson Huth; and one brother, Raymond Moore.
