Elizabeth Rose Latcham was born on August 14, 1928, the daughter of Gustav Adolph and Nellie Marie Playle Thon in Newton, Iowa. She was raised in the Grinnell area, where she met and married Leonard Latcham on June 22, 1947. She worked in the office at DeLong's Sportswear for 20 years. Betty was a member of the Grinnell Christian Church and the Elks Auxiliary. Betty loved to cook, was a feisty card player and always saw the best in people. She was a caring and helpful person. She enjoyed shopping with her granddaughter, Chelsi. Her favorite shows were the Beverly Hillbillies, Matlock and the Golden Girls. Betty's greatest love was for her grandchildren. Betty is survived by her daughter, Lenna (John) Booth of Grinnell; her son, Scott Latcham of Grinnell; two grandchildren, Chelsi and Tyler Booth of Grinnell; and a sister, Barbara Meredith of Lynnville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard in 2008; and two brothers, Leonard and Arnold Thon.
