Elizabeth was born the daughter of Charles Sumner Davis and Gertie Shepherd on November 5, 1910, near LeGrand, Iowa. She was raised and educated in LeGrand and Searsboro, and graduated from Searsboro High School with the class of 1927. She attended William Penn College in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Following her education, she worked at Deaconess Hospital in Marshalltown, Iowa. Elizabeth was united in marriage to Everett Vernon Emmert on July 12, 1930, at the United Methodist Church in Newton, Iowa. To this union were born their children, Marilyn, Carol, and Alice. The couple farmed near Grinnell for thirty years and moved to Grinnell in March of 1960. Elizabeth was a natural born member of the Quaker Church near LeGrand. She held a strong love for her family and provided a loving home for her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Elizabeth and Everett enjoyed traveling and took trips to California, Florida, and Virginia. Her enjoyments included raising chickens and gardening. Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Iverson of Malcom, IA and Carol (Roger) Peters of Grinnell; 9 grandchildren, Larry (Linda) Iverson of Montezuma, IA, Roger (Debbie) Iverson of Grinnell, Cheryl (Dave) Waskow of Jefferson, IA, Sandy (Pete) Ross of Montezuma, Rick (Lesa) Peters of Grinnell, Kristi (Travis) Hammond of Saginaw, TX, Kelly (Jess) Podrazo of Louisville, NE, Tricia (Ron) Petersen of Des Moines, IA, and Mary Beth (Steve) Fenske of Grinnell; 17 great grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and 2 step great great grandchildren. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Everett V. Emmert in 1986; her daughter and son-in-law, Alice (Carroll) Kriegel; 3 sisters, Alice Johnson, Verna Harvey, and Lenora Davis; her brother, John Davis; and her son-in-law, Arthur Iverson.
