Eleanor was born on February 25, 1922, near Marshalltown, Iowa to Claude and Marie Edna Horak Thompson. She was raised in Grinnell and graduated from Grinnell High School with the Class of 1940. On April 30, 1942, she was married to Warren R. Miller in Grinnell. The couple lived in Grinnell and she was the mother of three children, Gary, Linda and Donna. She also worked at the former North Market and Saunders 5 & 10 Store. From 1956 to 1981 she worked at Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company. Following her retirement the couple lived in Grinnell and they enjoyed fishing and camping. Eleanor was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church and the women's fellowship of the church. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the White Shrine, the Grinnell Lady Elks, and the auxiliaries of the Grinnell Fire Department, the American Legion and the VFW. She is survived by her husband, Warren Miller of Grinnell; one son, Gary (Mary) Miller of Enid, OK; two daughters, Linda Harper of Fort Myers, Florida and Donna Miller of Grinnell; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Gorehan and Dorothy Peak, both of Grinnell; and one brother, Donald Thompson of Grinnell.
