Elaine M. Ferneau, 75, of Tama, died on Monday, November 20, 2017, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. No services are planned. Smith Funeral Home of Grinnell is in charge of arrangements. Elaine was born on July 25, 1942, in Marshalltown, Iowa to George Gerald and Margaret Arlene Mayo Ferneau. She was raised in Tama and graduated from Tama High School with the Class of 1960. She received an AA degree in Journalism from Marshalltown Community College. Elaine was a life-long resident of Tama. She enjoyed cooking, reading and her family. Survivors include her children, Lorena Hefflon and Frank Ferneau, both of Tama; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; seven step-children, Sherri Ferraro, David Stanton, Judy Ferch, Marc Stanton, Tony Stanton, Sheila Claytor and Frank Stanton; and one brother, Claude Ferneau of Tama. She was preceded in death by her parents; one step-daughter, Goldie Stanton; and two brothers, Frank and Claire Ferneau.
