Memorials: Edwin G. Nelson Memorial Fund, 209 High Street, Apt. #12, Searsboro, Iowa 50242. Edwin was united in marriage to Velma Mae Smith December 31st, 1949. To this union were born five children: Phyllis, Raymond, Garold, June & Jimmy. Edwin was a member of the United States Army, serving our country in WWII. He retired from Maytag after 33 years, where he worked as a machinist. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and especially spending time with his family. Edwin is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Velma Nelson of Searsboro; his children, Phyllis Brady of Searsboro, Thelma "June" (David) Trease of Kellogg, Garold (Diane) Nelson of Grinnell, and James (Pauline) Nelson of Searsboro; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and his sisters, Veda Critchfield of Kirksville, Missouri, Avis Lunsford of Green City, Missouri, and Roberta Milward of Excelsior Springs, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Raymond Nelson; and his brother, Eldon "Spike" Nelson.
