Edward "Ed" Douglas Burch, 64, of Grinnell, died on Monday, June 26, 2023 at UnityPoint – Grinnell Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family.

The family will hold a celebration of life ceremony at a later date. Memorial contributions may be designated to the Family of Edward Burch and mailed in care of Smith Funeral Home PO Box 368, Grinnell, IA 50112.

Ed was born on April 22, 1959, in Grinnell, IA, the son of Beverly and Willena Jochims Burch. He was raised in Grinnell and was educated in the Grinnell School District.

Ed was united in marriage to Toni Hewitt on September 10, 2005 in Grinnell.

Ed worked as cook and a mechanic, fixing cars, until his disability left him unable to work in 1999. He enjoyed working on cars and attending coffee groups with friends. Ed loved his family above all, he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered as loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Those left to cherish Ed's memory include his wife, Toni; children, Heather, Joseph, and Nicolas Burch; step-children, Anna Jensen and Dalton Dupee; grandchildren, Masyn and Kaid Burch; step-grandchildren, Natalie Jensen and Bentley Prough, and his siblings, John, Diane and Kevin Burch. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Larry, Dave, Jeff, and Danny Burch; and sister, Linda Norman.
