Edith
Seye
November 6, 1958 – March 20, 2026
Edith "Edie" Seye, 67, passed away peacefully at home on March 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Edie was a radiant, unforgettable soul whose warmth and energy lit up every room she entered. Her genuine smile, infectious laughter, and open-hearted nature made everyone feel seen, valued, and loved. She believed deeply in human connection—never meeting a stranger and always offering a hug, kind word, or comforting presence.
Full of life and compassion, Edie inspired those around her to live boldly, love deeply, and lead with kindness. Whether sharing sunsets, hosting gatherings, or simply spending time with others, she embraced life with joy and authenticity.
She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and unwavering love that will continue to shine in all who knew her and will live on through her husband, John, her children, Alisa Hughes, Megan (Nick King, and his son Colton) Hughes, and Zachary Hughes, her grandchildren, Dominic Weathers, Madison (Grant) Rowland, Hadley and Hayden Hughes, her siblings, Steve Markley, and Clint (Desirae) Markley, her nephew, who was like a second son to her, Brandon (Lindsey) Markley, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Edie now joins those who went before her: her beloved parents, Elmer and Marilyn, her mother-in-law, Patsy Seye, and her siblings, Becky Mennes, Terry Markley, and Gary Markley.
A celebration of Edie's vibrant life will be held on Saturday, March 28 from 12-3, at Holiday Lake Community Center, 6 Lakeshore Drive, # A, Brooklyn, IA. Adjacent to the front entrance.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to John Seye, mailed in care of:
