Earlene F. Arment, 76, of Grinnell, died on Monday, January 7, 2013, at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 11, 2013, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell with Rev. Bonnie Koeppen, pastor of the Sheridan United Methodist Church, officiating. Casket Bearers will be Jason Arment, Justin Arment, Corey Arment, Tom Arment, Marvin Arment, Roger Arment, Brian Arment and Brian Lewis. Interment will be at the Sheridan Cemetery near Grinnell.
Friends may call at the funeral home beginning 12 noon on Thursday and the family will be present at the funeral home from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Memorials may be directed to the Sheridan United Methodist Church.
Earlene was born on September 3, 1936, in Toledo, Iowa to Earl and Letha McElvania Dee. She was raised on the family farm in Sheridan Township and graduated from Grinnell High School with the Class of 1955.
On June 15, 1955, she was married to Duane Arment at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple lived in Grinnell from 1955 to 1981. In 1981, they resided on their farm in Sheridan Township until 2000, when they returned to Grinnell to make their home. She was a homemaker and mother of five children.
Earlene was a member of the Sheridan Methodist Church and the LGT Club. She enjoyed cooking, baking and socializing with family and friends over a meal.
Survivors include her children, Tom Arment of Grinnell, Marvin Arment of Montezuma, Debra Graham of Grinnell, Roger Arment and Brian Arment, both of Tama; four grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, Warren Dee; and two sisters, Annabelle Russell and Marilyn Mayo.
