Duane Meyer, 67, of Newton, died on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell with Pastor Kari Lee officiating.

Duane Edward Meyer was born the son of Clifton and Harriet (Townsend) Meyer in Grinnell, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm near Searsboro and attended Lynnville-Sully Schools.

Following his education, Duane assisted his father in the farming operation. Due to a previous injury, he moved to a care facility in Montezuma and later to Capstone Behavioral Health in Newton. He was employed at Mid-Iowa Workshop in Marshalltown and Vernon Company in Newton. Duane enjoyed attending drag races in Eddyville, watching Iowa Hawkeye football on TV, going for walks in Newton, and the companionship of his friends at Capstone.

Duane is survived by his brothers, Cliff (Katherine) Meyer of Vancouver, Washington and Gary Meyer of Grinnell; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a niece, Teresa Meyer.
