Doug
Chamberlain
June 1, 1971 – December 24, 2022
Doug Chamberlain died of a brain bleed, long Covid, and other complications at Unity Point-Grinnell Regional Medical Center on December 24, 2022.
Douglas Michael Chamberlain was born in Des Moines in June, 1971. The family moved to the farm near Pleasantville in 1974 where he enjoyed hunting in the woods and the country life. Doug graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1989 and shortly afterwards, joined Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 33 where he worked on construction jobs for 32 years in many different locations throughout Iowa, with short stents in Texas and Arizona. He was currently living in Grinnell, Iowa where he had been involved in revamping the heating/cooling system at the college over the summer.
Doug loved fast cars, cold beer and the Blues. He enjoyed collecting old Tonka trucks, Nascar models, books and antiques. Doug is survived by his partner Shelli Lovell, parents Don and Joyce, sister Dawn, daughter Sydney, and a niece and nephew, Julia and Fletcher Turnquist. If he had lived for another 6 months, he would have been the very proud grandfather of twins.
Per Doug's wishes his body has been cremated and there are no plans for a funeral.
