Dorothy J. Jackson, 93, of Grinnell and formerly of Onawa, Iowa died on December 26, 2020, at Windsor Manor in Grinnell. Dorothy is the sister and sister-in-law of Robert and Ruth Samson. A Celebration of Life service is pending in Onawa. Burial will be in the Onawa Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Onawa Christian Church. Dorothy was born on April 22, 1927, in Onawa, the daughter of Wayne Eugene and Ellen Johnson Samson. She was raised in Onawa and was a 1945 graduate of Onawa High School. She furthered her education at a business school in Sioux City. She was united in marriage to Joseph Edward Jackson, at the Onawa Christian Church. The couple continued to make their home in Onawa where she enjoyed taking care of their home while raising their daughter, Laura Jane. She moved to Windsor Manor in Grinnell in 2017. Dorothy was an active member of the Onawa Christian Church. She held a strong faith. She held a passion for quilting, enjoyed playing bridge, and was a wonderful cook. Survivors include two grandchildren, Byron Stanislav of Little Sioux, Iowa and Kari Mallett of New Braunfels, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Addison Mallett and Nate Stanislav; one brother, Robert (Ruth) Samson of Grinnell; and six nieces and nephews, Dick Samson of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Larry Samson of Sheridan, Wyoming, Chris Samson of Urbandale, Doug Samson of Durham, North Carolina, Suellen Samson of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Tracy Boddicker of Berryville, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph; her daughter, Laura Jane Stanislav; and a brother, Donald Samson.
