Memories and condolences may be shared with her family online at www.smithfh.com. Doris was born the daughter of John and Marceda (Kuhns) VandeKamp on July 7, 1930, in Marshalltown, Iowa. She was raised in Gilman Iowa and graduated from Gilman High School in 1950. Doris was united in marriage to Donald L. Weaver on August 5, 1950, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple was blessed with four children, Belinda, Michael, Pamela, and Paula. They farmed in the Newburg area for over 50 years and were life-long members of the Newburg-Chester Congregational Church. She was a member of the You Go, I Go Club, and the ("Ladies") Elks Lodge in Grinnell. Every member of the community could attest to Doris' love for square dancing and bowling. Doris' greatest joy was being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She epitomized family in every possible way. She loved life on the farm and being a homemaker. She derived joy from needlework, reading, gardening, and making ceramics. She will be remembered for her kindness and generosity, for always being well-dressed, for being self-sufficient and independent, and for the strong love of her family. Most importantly, she will be remembered for her strength which established the backbone of her family. This strength was on display for her entire life, up until her last earthly breath. Doris poured her life into her children. Her kids and grandchildren display many of her caring and supportive traits today in their daily lives. There was never anything more delightful and infectious than Doris' laughter. Doris is survived by her daughters, Belinda (Fred) Michael of Iowa City, Iowa, and Pamela (James) Johnson of Anderson, IN; son, Michael (Melissa) Weaver of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania; 10 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren with one more on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Weaver in 2017; daughter, Paula Anderson in 2009; and sister, Marilee Wier.
