Doris Harris, 86, of Grinnell, died on Monday, July 22, 2024, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, July 26, 2024, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. Interment will follow at Chester Cemetery north of Grinnell.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 10:00 am.

Doris Ann Beik was born the daughter of Gerald and Ethyl (Caldwell) Beik on February 2, 1938 in Burlington, IA. She was raised in Wapello, IA and graduated from Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs, IA. Following graduation, Doris was employed at the Iowa State Capital doing data entry.
She was united in marriage to James O. Stouse. Their marriage was blessed with a daughter, Stella. They resided in Kokomo, IN and Doris was employed by General Motors. James passed away unexpectedly in 1986.
Doris was married to Dale Harris on October 6, 1990 in Wapello, IA. They resided in Grinnell, IA. They were members of the Calvary Lutheran Church for the Deaf in Des Moines.
Doris has resided at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell since 2013, where she enjoyed the companionship of friends, nurses, and staff workers. Her favorite activity there was playing bingo. She enjoyed teaching the staff and residents sign language. One of her favorite pastimes was to watch professional wrestling (WWF) on television. She held a special love for animals, especially dogs. Doris will be remembered for being resilient, for her strength, and for the kindness she bestowed on those around her.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Stella Stouse of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Andrea and Natalie David; step-daughter, Cindy (Tim) Carnavole and step grandson, William Carnovale of Sydney, Australia; nephew, John Beik of Urbandale, IA; and niece, Amanda (Randy) Johnson of Ames, IA. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Dale Beik; husband, James Stouse; and husband, Dale Harris.
