Doris Cline, 95 of Grinnell and formerly of Guernsey, died at the Mayflower Community Health Care Center in Grinnell on Friday, July 10, 2026.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, July 18, 2026, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Brooklyn. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Brooklyn. A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall at St. Patrick Catholic Church.

A scripture service will be held at 4:30 pm, Friday, July 17, 2026 at the Smith Funeral Home in Brooklyn. The family will receive friends at the Smith Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. A rosary will follow the visitation.

Doris Lucille Neitzel was born on October 24, 1930, on the family farm near Guernsey, Iowa. They later moved to a farm south of Brooklyn. She was raised on the family farm and graduated from Brooklyn High School with the Class of 1949.

On April 19, 1950, Doris was united in marriage to Leonard F. Cline at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Brooklyn. The couple made their home on the family farm near Guernsey, where they spent their entire married life together. Doris was a devoted homemaker and worked alongside Leonard, assisting with the family farming operation. They were lifelong members of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Doris found her greatest joy in her family. She cherished every visit with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Doris and Leonard also loved spending evenings dancing together and relaxing on the front porch. Doris always had a huge garden to feed her family and canned hundreds of jars of fruits and vegetables.

An exceptional cook and baker, Doris was well known for her homemade noodles and delicious kolaches. In her spare time, she enjoyed tending her houseplants, sewing, and listening to country music.

Doris is survived by her children, James Cline of Guernsey, Carolyn Ashby of Grinnell, Kathleen (Chuck) Baetsle of Hartwick, Beverly Archuleta of Grinnell, Loretta Cline of Grinnell, Robert (Lynette) Cline of Cedar Falls, IA, and Rita McVey of Grinnell; six grandchildren, Staci (Lenny) Thompson, Joe (Amy) Baetsle, Margo Cline, Kyle Cline, Angelina (Greg) Willard, and Elizabeth (Scott) Fuchser; great-grandchildren, Perpetua, Felicity, Leonard, Agnus, Hubert, Robert and Lucia Willard; Bobbi Jo (Dalton), Brandi, Emma (Jaron), Charlie and Anna Baetsle; Dylan Cheshier, Wyatt Andrick; Sadie and Sebastian Fuchser; great-great grandchildren Silas, Lilith, Gianna. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; her parents; her sister, Cheryl Neitzel in infancy; and her sons-in-law, John Archuleta and Dennis Ashby.
